Sumptuous property Riviera del Corallo, on the northwest coast of Sardinia, built in 1880 on the ruins of an old watchtower by Alessandro, 3rd Earl of St. Elias. To satisfy the tastes of his wife Lady Rosamond Marke Wood, the building's shape resembled a medieval castle, reflecting the trend of the time and the rank of the family.
Alghero was already a prestigious vacation spot for many noble lineage travelers at the end of the 19th century. And when Count Elder Alberto became Chamberlain for Pope Pius XI and Pius XII, the Property was transformed into a meeting place for high society, with among its customers, the Romanov Priceless and the Italian Free.
During the Second World War, Antoine de Saint Exupéry frequented the property. Then in 1959, Francesco Arborio Mella, fifth Earl of St. Elias, sold the villa to its current owners.
The property has been renovated, a floor was built, so that it has taken its current form. Even today, the usual visitors include renowned state, aristocrats and well-known personalities from the worlds of business and entertainment.
The view from its windows is spectacular.
Founded by the Doria in 1102, in an area already inhabited since ancient times, the city quickly became of strategic importance thanks to its geographical position and seabed rich in corals. At the end of an extended siege, culminating with the Battle of Alghero (Porto Conte Bay, 27 August 1353), it was conquered by the Aragonese-Catalans who repopulated the city with their own people. Following the complex dynastic events, the citadel was then transmitted to the Spanish Crown, to note a visit of the Emperor Charles V in 1541.
The Catalan language, culture and traditions are still present today (the sacred games, the famous Easter processions ...). Moreover, local people continue to call the city Barcelloneta (little Barcelona).
A jewel set in the most beautiful part of the Mediterranean coast, illuminated by the limpid blue of the sea and the magnificence of art. Nature has endowed it with beaches of very fine sand, waves of rocks that rise from waves, caves that are thousands of years old and have an enviable climate.

The large marina is a safe landing place for large ships, close to coral work done by fine craftsmen.

The coast, known as the Riviera Coral, is rich in small bays, coves, reefs, unpolluted beaches and pine forests. The Caves of Nettuno (Caves of Neptune) are not to be missed, they can be visited by sea and by land through the characteristic Escala del Cabirol (Stairway Deer). Also worth seeing are the Regional Natural Park of Porto Conte, Cave dei Colombi (Pigeon Caves), Grotta Verde (Green Grotto) and Isola Foradada (Foradada Island). Many lands to explore ...
