The most beautiful beaches of the Keys

16 March 2018

It's an open secret, Florida's beaches are among the most attractive in the United States. Trip Advisor has recently unveiled its top 25 most beautiful beaches in the land of Uncle Sam. Clearwater Beach wins the palm while seven other beaches of the Sunshine State are part of the list. But do not be surprised if the beaches of the Keys shine by their absence, they are not famous for their beauty. But there are some exceptions!

Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, Key West

The Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park in Key West is the most beautiful in the area.

It's hot in Key West ... After all, the city is located at the southernmost tip of the United States. After visiting Hemingway's home and wandering the charming streets of historic Conch Republic, why not soak your toes in the turquoise waters of Fort Zachary Taylor's Historic State Park? Where we find the most beautiful beach in Key West! Do not forget mask and snorkel! Promised, multicolored fish will be at the rendezvous! On site, there is a nice coffee. And several arrangements for picnicking. Some by the sea, others in the shade, in a small forest "enchanted"! History buffs can visit a fort dating back to the American Civil War.

Snorkeling can be practiced at Fort Zachary Taylor's Historic State Park Beach.

Smathers Beach, Key West

Time to relax at Smathers Beach.

Another dream location for lazing around and sunbathing, Smathers Beach along Roosevelt South Boulevard. This public beach with many coconut palms on the Atlantic side and one kilometer long attracts joggers, especially young at the spring break. You can practice several water sports: jet ski, parasailing, windsurfing, etc. Renowned for its breathtaking sunsets, there are many weddings!

Higgs Beach, Key West

Higgs Beach and its pretty coconut trees.

Another stop at Key West to cool off: Higgs Beach. It is a public beach near the prestigious Waldorf Astoria's Casa Marina Resort. In addition to its azure and crystal clear water, there is a café, BBQ, volleyball, tennis and picketball courts. Athletes can indulge in kayaking and paddleboarding since they can be rented on site. Do not leave this little paradise without having walked through the tropical garden of the ruins of the West Martello Tower! Beautiful ! This beach is very popular with the gay community.

Bahia Honda State Park, Big Pine Key

Amazing view of Calusa Beach at Bahia Honda State Park.

During your scenic drive on the Overseas Highway over the Keys, stop at Bahia Honda State Park, just south of Marathon. The beautiful Sandspur Beach and Loggerhead Beach on the Atlantic side are still not open to visitors due to the devastation of Hurricane Irma. By cons, you can bask on the golden sand of Calusa Beach. A small beach with calm waters on the side of the Gulf of Mexico, perfect for children. Special mention for the breathtaking view of The Old Bahia Honda Bridge, the famous bridge cut in half. Spectacular!

All Keys beaches, such as Sombrero Beach and Marathon's Curry Hammock State Park are open to the public following Hurricane Irma. On the other hand, the beautiful beach of Anne's Beach in Islamorada remains closed. As well as the other two beaches of Bahia Honda already mentioned.
